Councilor Jared Grifoni suggested during Tuesday's council meeting that individual or corporate sponsor dollars could either offset taxpayer contributions or purchase additional improvements. "This is the next step in the process of finally getting Veterans Community Park built," wrote City councilor Jared Grifoni in an email to the Eagle. "This is great news for our island as this project has been essentially dormant for over 10 years."  "Once (this) is completed, then we can move to construction and that will of course needs to be funded," Grifoni wrote. City Council adopting rollback means your tax rate has now decreased three years in a row. The proposed 2020 millage rate is the lowest it has been in 10 years. Never before in our island’s history has a City Council set the property tax rate at rollback three years in a row.
